Join us for hula and cultural classes

Class terms are held:

  • Fall: September through November (3 months)

  • Winter: December through February (3 months)

  • Spring: March through May (3 months)

  • CLOSED in June, July and August.

Classes are held each Sunday (excluding most holidays). As Nohona haumāna (students) come from across the DMV, so too are the locations of our classes. Each term, we aim to use one facility out of the DMV area, rotating to the next area each term. This enables us to ensure Nohona is equitably accessible to all members.

Classes are available for:

  • Keiki (Children) Starting at age 5

  • Wahine (Women) Beginner to Advanced

  • Kane (Men) Beginner to Advanced

Classes for all ages and levels consist of:

  • ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language)

  • Hula Kahiko (Ancient Hula)

  • Hula ʻAuana (Modern Hula)

  • Oli (Chant)

  • Hawaiian Singing Choir

  • Hawaiian Arts and Crafts

Enrollment

All prospective students are required to join an orientation and onboarding virtual meeting. The purpose is to ensure new students understand the cultural protocols of a traditional hula hālau as well as reviewing all information about class structure, tuition, logistics and more.
